Trex composite colors & finishing details

Match your composite fence to the siding, brick and landscape. The four systems list these same color families.

Manufacturer sample images show the surface texture. Screen colors vary; composite fencing can fade to a lighter shade as it naturally weathers. Compare physical samples and weathered examples; confirm your chosen combination when quoting.

Post cap options

Crown, Pyramid and Flat caps are listed for the three privacy systems. Shenandoah’s standard parts list shows a Crown cap.

“On center” means post center to post center, not the clear opening. Shorter sections, slopes and gates change the layout. Horizons and Solitudes typically step on sloping ground, which can leave spaces beneath panels. Review pet containment and required clearances during the site visit.

Build a realistic budget

What affects a Trex composite fence estimate?

A useful composite fence estimate starts with your property and layout. A price per foot alone can miss major parts of the job.

  • Fence length and height: the full run and each section.
  • System and gates: panel design, openings and hardware.
  • Existing fencing: removal and disposal, if needed.
  • Site conditions: slope, access, corners and obstacles. Georgia red clay and shifting soil make drainage, grade and post stability important points to review during the site visit.
  • Project requirements: property boundaries and design restrictions.

Simple care. Clear expectations.

For general dirt on composite fencing, Trex recommends soap, water and a soft-bristle brush. Follow product-specific cleaning guidance for other marks.

Check gates and hardware periodically. Address damage rather than assuming a low-maintenance material needs no attention.

Understand the warranty

PFW installation coverage: 5-year workmanship guarantee. Ask us for the written terms and coverage for your project.

Trex lists a 25-year residential and 10-year commercial limited warranty for its fencing. Conditions, exclusions and proration apply. Normal weathering and color changes are excluded.

Manufacturer coverage is separate from installation workmanship and does not cover replacement labor. Request the applicable written terms for your project.

Good questions before you build

Trex fencing FAQs

Straightforward answers to help you choose and plan your fence.

Is Trex fencing the same as a wood fence?

No. Trex is a wood-and-plastic composite. Compare samples and complete system specifications, rather than treating it as a standard wood privacy fence.

Does Trex fencing need painting or staining?

Routine painting or staining is not required. Cleaning is still necessary, and hardware and gates should be checked over time.

Will the fence color change?

Yes. Natural weathering lightens the color, and components may weather differently. Compare physical samples and weathered examples before selecting a finish.

Can my design include gates or a sloped yard?

Include these in the initial site review. The chosen system, grade changes, gate width and clearance determine the layout. Confirm the design before ordering materials.

How much will my Trex fence cost?

That depends on the complete scope: footage, height, system, gates, removal and site access. Request an estimate for your property instead of relying on a generic per-foot figure.

What should I check with my HOA?

Ask about permitted materials, colors, heights, placement and the approval process. Bring the written guidelines to your fence consultation; a product choice does not guarantee approval.
